About the Role

EdgeByte is seeking a Business Development & Capture Specialist to identify, qualify, develop, and advance new business opportunities across federal, state and local government, education, and commercial markets.

This role will support the full opportunity lifecycle from market research and early opportunity identification through capture planning, teaming, solution development, proposal coordination, and award transition. The specialist will work closely with company leadership, technical architects, engineering teams, OEM partners, subcontractors, and prospective customers to position EdgeByte for competitive technology opportunities.

The ideal candidate understands government and commercial technology procurement, can evaluate opportunities for strategic and technical fit, and is comfortable translating customer requirements into actionable capture strategies, partner relationships, compliant responses, and a well-maintained business development pipeline.

Reponsibilities:

  • Identify and qualify new business opportunities across federal, state and local government, education, and commercial technology markets.
  • Research solicitations, Sources Sought, RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, IDIQs, BPAs, GWACs, task orders, subcontracting opportunities, and other acquisition channels.
  • Evaluate opportunities for strategic fit, technical capability, contract access, customer alignment, competitive position, schedule, and probability of win.
  • Develop and maintain opportunity capture plans, qualification assessments, pursuit strategies, win themes, action plans, and competitive intelligence.
  • Maintain an accurate business development pipeline including opportunity stage, value, probability, milestones, customer information, partners, next actions, and forecast data.
  • Track procurement forecasts, agency buying activity, contract vehicles, incumbent information, funding signals, recompetes, and emerging customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with technical architects and engineering teams to develop solution concepts, technical approaches, staffing assumptions, and capability alignment.
  • Support proposal development including compliance matrices, outlines, proposal schedules, content coordination, reviews, past-performance inputs, and final submission activities.
  • Review solicitation documents and identify mandatory requirements, evaluation criteria, submission instructions, technical requirements, contract terms, and potential bid risks.
  • Support development of capability statements, white papers, RFIs, Sources Sought responses, presentations, technical responses, and customer-facing materials.
  • Identify and develop teaming relationships with prime contractors, subcontractors, OEMs, distributors, cloud providers, and strategic technology partners.
  • Support teaming agreements, NDAs, subcontracting discussions, partner outreach, and pursuit coordination.
  • Coordinate customer engagement activities including discovery meetings, capability briefings, industry events, partner meetings, and pre-solicitation discussions.
  • Develop account and agency research to identify customer missions, technology priorities, pain points, stakeholders, buying patterns, and upcoming requirements.
  • Work with leadership and pricing stakeholders to support bid/no-bid decisions, pricing strategy, labor assumptions, and overall pursuit strategy.
  • Identify opportunities aligned with company contract vehicles, socioeconomic qualifications, technical capabilities, OEM partnerships, and target markets.
  • Maintain capture documentation, customer notes, opportunity records, partner information, calendars, and pursuit artifacts within company CRM and collaboration systems.
  • Support post-award transition by communicating customer commitments, scope, assumptions, deliverables, and relevant capture information to delivery teams.
  • Continuously improve business development, capture, proposal, qualification, and pipeline-management processes.
  • Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of business development, capture management, proposal development, account management, government contracting, technology sales, or related experience.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting technology, professional services, cloud, cybersecurity, networking, infrastructure, software, or related IT opportunities.
  • Experience identifying and qualifying opportunities through government procurement portals, commercial research platforms, partner channels, customer relationships, or comparable sources.
  • Working knowledge of Sources Sought, RFIs, RFPs, RFQs, IDIQs, BPAs, task orders, subcontracting, teaming, and competitive procurement processes.
  • Experience developing capture plans, opportunity assessments, pursuit strategies, win themes, competitive analysis, and bid/no-bid recommendations.
  • Experience reviewing solicitations and identifying compliance requirements, evaluation criteria, submission instructions, schedules, and contractual requirements.
  • Ability to understand technical solutions involving cloud, cybersecurity, networking, infrastructure, identity, managed services, or technology procurement at a business-development level.
  • Experience supporting proposal development, compliance matrices, content coordination, reviews, and submission activities.
  • Experience developing and maintaining opportunity pipelines, forecasts, customer records, pursuit milestones, and business-development metrics.
  • Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to identify customer requirements, incumbents, competitors, partners, contract vehicles, and acquisition trends.
  • Ability to build relationships with customers, prime contractors, subcontractors, OEMs, distributors, and strategic technology partners.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to develop professional customer correspondence, capability statements, white papers, presentations, and proposal content.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, follow-through, and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent pursuits and deadlines.
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage technical teams, executives, partners, and customer stakeholders.
  • U.S. work authorization and ability to satisfy customer-specific access requirements.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Association of Proposal Management Professionals (APMP) Foundation, Practitioner, Capture Practitioner, or comparable business-development certification.
  • Experience supporting federal technology opportunities within DoD, federal civilian, homeland security, or other public-sector agencies.
  • Experience with state, local government, education, or commercial technology business development.
  • Experience with GSA Multiple Award Schedule, GWACs, IDIQs, BPAs, multiple-award contracts, and task-order pursuits.
  • Experience with government opportunity platforms such as SAM.gov, GSA eBuy, agency procurement portals, GovWin, HigherGov, Bloomberg Government, or comparable market-intelligence tools.
  • Experience supporting cloud, Microsoft Azure, AWS, cybersecurity, Zero Trust, networking, infrastructure modernization, managed services, or technology-resale opportunities.
  • Experience developing teaming strategies and working with small businesses, large prime contractors, OEMs, distributors, and technology partners.
  • Experience with NAICS alignment, socioeconomic contracting programs, subcontracting strategies, and government acquisition research.
  • Experience supporting capture gates, Black Hat reviews, solution reviews, Pink Team, Red Team, Gold Team, or comparable proposal-review processes.
  • Experience supporting pricing development, basis-of-estimate inputs, labor-category mapping, staffing plans, and competitive price-to-win analysis.
  • Experience with CRM and opportunity-management platforms such as Salesforce, HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics, GovWin, Deltek, or comparable systems.
  • Experience supporting proposal development for FFP, T&M, labor-hour, IDIQ, task-order, or other common contract structures.
  • Strong existing relationships within technology vendors, government contractors, public-sector customers, or enterprise technology markets.
