About the Role

EdgeByte is seeking an Azure Cloud Engineer – Platform to administer, configure, implement, and support Microsoft Azure environments across commercial, regulated, and public-sector customers.

This role serves as a general-purpose Azure engineering position focused on day-to-day cloud platform operations, application and workload onboarding, resource configuration, governance, access, networking, security integration, monitoring, and automation. The engineer will work across Azure infrastructure, networking, cybersecurity, ICAM, application, and DevOps teams to support new and existing cloud workloads.

The position requires strong Azure administration experience and the ability to take an application or workload from initial requirements through onboarding, configuration, connectivity, access, monitoring, security integration, and operational handoff within established Azure landing zones and enterprise standards.

Reponsibilities:

  • Administer and support Microsoft Azure subscriptions, resource groups, virtual machines, storage, networking, identities, and platform services.
  • Onboard applications and workloads into existing Azure landing zones and enterprise cloud environments.
  • Configure Azure resources including compute, storage, networking, Key Vault, monitoring, backup, and supporting platform services.
  • Support application teams with cloud resource requirements, connectivity, identity integration, access, DNS, certificates, and platform dependencies.
  • Implement and maintain Azure RBAC, managed identities, service principals, resource permissions, and access-control configurations.
  • Configure and support VNets, subnets, NSGs, UDRs, Private Endpoints, Private DNS, load balancing, and hybrid connectivity as required.
  • Apply Azure Policy, tagging, naming standards, resource governance, cost controls, and configuration standards.
  • Support Microsoft Defender for Cloud, security recommendations, vulnerability remediation, logging, and baseline security controls.
  • Assist with Microsoft Entra ID integration, Enterprise Applications, App Registrations, managed identities, and authentication requirements.
  • Configure Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, alerts, diagnostic settings, dashboards, and operational monitoring.
  • Support Azure Backup, Recovery Services Vaults, availability, resiliency, and disaster-recovery requirements.
  • Troubleshoot application, compute, networking, identity, permissions, DNS, storage, and platform-level Azure issues.
  • Develop and maintain Terraform, Bicep, PowerShell, Azure CLI, or other automation used to deploy and manage Azure resources.
  • Support cloud migrations, application modernization, infrastructure deployment, and workload transition activities.
  • Develop technical documentation, implementation procedures, architecture diagrams, runbooks, and as-built documentation.
  • Collaborate with networking, cybersecurity, ICAM, DevOps, application, database, and infrastructure engineering teams.
  • Apply Zero Trust, least privilege, cloud governance, security, and operational best practices across customer environments.
  • Required Qualifications:

  • CompTIA Security+
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)
  • 5+ years of enterprise IT, infrastructure, systems administration, cloud, or engineering experience.
  • 3+ years of hands-on Microsoft Azure administration or cloud engineering experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience administering Microsoft Azure subscriptions, resources, virtual machines, storage, networking, and platform services.
  • Experience onboarding applications and workloads into Azure environments.
  • Experience with Azure Resource Groups, RBAC, managed identities, service principals, Key Vault, Azure Policy, and resource governance.
  • Working knowledge of Azure VNets, subnets, NSGs, UDRs, Private Endpoints, Private DNS, VPN, load balancing, and hybrid connectivity.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Entra ID integration, application identities, authentication, and access requirements.
  • Experience with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, diagnostic settings, alerts, and operational monitoring.
  • Experience implementing or supporting Azure security controls, Defender for Cloud recommendations, vulnerability remediation, and least-privilege access.
  • Experience with Azure Backup, recovery services, availability, resiliency, and cloud operational support.
  • Experience troubleshooting Azure compute, networking, DNS, storage, identity, permissions, and application connectivity issues.
  • Experience with Terraform, Bicep, PowerShell, Azure CLI, APIs, or similar cloud automation technologies.
  • Strong understanding of cloud governance, resource organization, tagging, naming standards, and operational best practices.
  • Ability to develop technical documentation, implementation procedures, architecture diagrams, and operational runbooks.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • U.S. work authorization and ability to satisfy customer-specific access requirements.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate (AZ-700), Identity and Access Administrator Associate (SC-300), Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500), or comparable Azure certification.
  • Experience with Azure landing zones, management groups, subscription provisioning, enterprise-scale governance, and standardized deployment patterns.
  • Experience supporting application migrations, cloud modernization, workload onboarding, and production cutover activities.
  • Experience with App Service, Azure Functions, Azure SQL, Storage Accounts, Container Apps, AKS, or other Azure PaaS services.
  • Experience with Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Microsoft Sentinel, Azure Policy, and cloud security posture management.
  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, PIM, Enterprise Applications, App Registrations, and workload identities.
  • Experience with ExpressRoute, Azure Firewall, Application Gateway, Front Door, Private Link, or enterprise hybrid networking.
  • Experience developing reusable Terraform or Bicep modules and supporting Git-based CI/CD deployment workflows.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Infrastructure as Code, and automated cloud deployment pipelines.
  • Experience with FinOps, Azure Cost Management, reservations, resource optimization, and cloud-cost governance.
  • Knowledge of NIST 800-53, Zero Trust, CIS, FedRAMP, CMMC, or similar security and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience supporting commercial, regulated, federal, defense, financial, healthcare, or other enterprise cloud environments.
